Celebrating Real Female Founders

Being a woman in today’s society is hard. At times, it’s borderline impossible.

Working moms have two full time jobs. I can tell you from my own experience that it’s a lot of pressure. I strive to be the best leader I can be for my company, and also be there for my children – drop them off & pick them up at school, stay mentally present, make them pancakes in the morning, clean (ALL the time), the list goes on.

So often we scroll through our feeds and see successful women, juggling a million things and making it look easy. Let me tell you – it’s not, and the parts that you don’t see, that’s real life.

So in honor of International Women’s Day, we’re using our platform to spread awareness about female-founded businesses in our community, and we’re doing it all month long! We’ll be having real, authentic conversations with some of the best women in the biz and more.

I’ll be hosting IG Lives on the @bakedbymelissa Instagram account with award-winning Chef Missy Robbins of Lilia & Misi restaurants, expert esthetician Danna Omari of Noy Skincare, Ellen Bennett, founder and CEO of Hedley & Bennett, and Myriam Sandler of Mothercould! The schedule can be found below.

My dad always told me, “You can do anything.” Those words of encouragement gave me something I didn’t know would be so important – confidence. By having these conversations on social media, my hope is that we can empower women to do things that feel impossible and learn from some of the best.

At Baked by Melissa, we take International Women’s Day seriously. Over the past few years, we’ve partnered with some awesome organizations to help give back & support women of all ages achieve their goals.

This year, we’re proudly supporting the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation dedicated to empowering adolescent girls around the world through education. 10% of net proceeds from all sales on March 8th will be donated to the Girls Opportunity Alliance.

When girls around the world are educated, amazing things start to happen. Poverty goes down, economies grow, families get stronger, babies are born healthier, and the world, by all accounts, gets better. But today, millions of girls are at risk of never returning to school at all due to ripple effects from the pandemic.

We can't let that happen. The stakes are just too high. That's why on International Women's Day, we're proud to support the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation dedicated to empowering adolescent girls around the world through education.

Women's History Month is the perfect time to pay it forward to the next generation of women, so we hope you'll join us and take action to support this important cause on March 8th!
