Dark Chocolate Chip and Pretzel Bark

Discover delicious Game Day snacks for your halftime munchies, including this easy, four-ingredient chocolate potato chip pretzel bark.

Friends + Food Make the Big Game Special

In years past, the thing I love most about the Super Bowl isn’t necessarily the football or the halftime show, but the ritual of entertaining and feeding the people I love...the ritual of spending time together and making delicious snacks worth indulging in.

One of my favorite Super Bowl traditions is that every year I make tie-dye football cupcakes in the colors of the playing teams. Another is that we usually go over to our best friends’ house—my kids call them Aunt B and Uncle Pooks—for “Pookie bread,” a delicious doughy, cheesy, meat-stuffed bread that we look forward to every year.

This year? I’m keeping it SIMPLE. Like, only four ingredients, sweet-meets-salty brittle simple.

Say hello to the dark chocolate munchies!

Ingredients for Dark Chocolate Potato Chip Pretzel Bark

  • 3 cups dark chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 cup crushed Cape Cod potato chips
  • 1 cup crushed gluten-free pretzels (Fun fact: They’re crunchier than glutenous pretzels!)
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  •

How to Make Dark Chocolate Potato Chip Pretzel Bark

  1. Tape a couple of pieces of parchment or wax paper to your countertop. This will be your workstation as you create your bark.
  2. Meanwhile, bring a pot or pan of water to a boil. Place a metal bowl on top of the boiling water, then add the chocolate wafers. (Use a double boiler if you have it, but no biggie if you don’t!)
  3. Melt the chocolate, stirring occasionally until the chocolate is smooth and shiny.
  4. Add in your crushed chips and pretzels quickly, before the chocolate hardens. Then, use a spatula to spread the chocolate mixture over your workstation. You can also use a piping bag if that’s easier!
  5. Sprinkle sea salt or your favorite sprinkles on top, then let harden for at least 30 minutes someplace cool.
  6. Break your bark into pieces and serve.

Pro Tip: If you’re storing these, place the bark in a closed container within the refrigerator for max crunch.

What You'll Need

In our house, we’ll throw all this sweet, salty, crunchy brittle in with a big bowl of freshly-popped popcorn. I call it a “Treasure Chest,” and I’m convinced it’s the best  halftime snack for a family full of sweet tooths.
