Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch Recipe

Do you ever get a random craving for cereal in the middle of the night? Same. I always seem to yearn for a spoonful of Cinnamon Toast Crunch once the stores are closed and the kids are in bed, so making it from scratch is a personal win. This recipe takes 10 minutes to make, doesn't require any fancy ingredients, and still gives you the satisfying crunch in every bite.

Ingredients for Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch

  • 4 slices white bread (or another bread of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Milk of choice, for serving

Tip: This recipe also works with gluten free bread!

How to Make Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch

  1. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin (this helps give you the perfect crunch).
  2. Slice the crusts off each piece and cut the bread into small 1/2 inch squares.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt two tablespoons of butter.
  4. Add the bread squares to the pan and coat evenly with butter (the butter helps the cinnamon coating stick).
  5. Season with salt.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Once the bread is toasted in the pan, sprinkle the cinnamon mix in.
  8. Give the pan a toss to evenly coat the squares. Keep toasting until the sugar has melted and starts to harden on the bread. It should have a crunch!
  9. Stir every few minutes so it doesn't burn.
  10. Once the squares are golden brown and fully coated in cinnamon and sugar, remove from heat and let cool.
  11. Pour the homemade cereal in a bowl and top with a milk of your choice. Enjoy!
