Adi's Crazy Sauce
Melissa Ben-Ishay
You already know that I don’t do spice. I’m afraid of it. My husband, on the other hand, is not. He looooves spice on just about anything, and always has zhug or hot sauce to add on top of salads, tacos, and proteins. This hot sauce is one of his go-tos and it’s SO easy. It’s like zhug with fresh herbs, and packs a TON of heat based on what kind of peppers you use. Adi recommends a variety—use ones you love and mix-and-match spice levels for balance. Or go all in and make it hot, if that’s how you like it.

Ingredients
10 to 12 small peppers (2 to 3 each of a mix of habaneros, jalapeños, serranos, etc.)
1 head garlic, peeled
1 red onion, peeled and cut in half
1 large handful parsley
1 large handful cilantro
2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Remove the stems from the peppers and place in a large blender, with the garlic cloves, onion, parsley, cilantro, pepper flakes, lemon juice, and olive oil.
Pulse to combine until no big chunks remain.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
