Do you ever get a random craving for cereal in the middle of the night? Same. I always seem to yearn for a spoonful of Cinnamon Toast Crunch once the stores are closed and the kids are in bed, so making it from scratch is a personal win. This recipe takes 10 minutes to make, doesn't require any fancy ingredients, and still gives you the satisfying crunch in every bite.
                      Ingredients
- 4 slices white bread (or another bread of your choice)
 - 2 tablespoons butter
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
 - 1 tablespoon sugar
 - Milk of choice, for serving

Directions
Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin (this helps give you the perfect crunch).
- Slice the crusts off each piece and cut the bread into small 1/2 inch squares.
 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt two tablespoons of butter.
 - Add the bread squares to the pan and coat evenly with butter (the butter helps the cinnamon coating stick).
 - Season with salt.
 - In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar.
 - Once the bread is toasted in the pan, sprinkle the cinnamon mix in.
 - Give the pan a toss to evenly coat the squares. Keep toasting until the sugar has melted and starts to harden on the bread. It should have a crunch!
 - Stir every few minutes so it doesn't burn.
 - Once the squares are golden brown and fully coated in cinnamon and sugar, remove from heat and let cool.
 - Pour the homemade cereal in a bowl and top with a milk of your choice. Enjoy!

Recipe Note
Tip: This recipe also works with gluten free bread!
