couscous

If you know how to boil water, you know how to make couscous—and you can have it on the table in under 10 minutes.

How to Make Couscous

We always have couscous in our pantry to make brothy, vegetable-filled soups and refreshing salads. It’s just so easy! The tiny couscous grains soak up all the liquid resulting in plump little balls of pasta. Serve it plain as a side (as you would rice), or mix it with your favorite veggies and herbs for added flavor.

Ingredients for Couscous

  • 1½ cups water (or stock)

  • 1 cup couscous

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt

How to Make Couscous

  1. Bring 1½ cups of water (or stock) to a boil in a small pot.

  2. Once the liquid is boiling, turn off the heat and add the couscous, olive oil, and salt. Stir the couscous and cover for 5 minutes.

  3. Uncover the pot and fluff the couscous with a fork. Serve on its own, with veggies, or in a salad.
