The big game might be interfering with your Valentine’s Day plans, but lucky for you, these cookies help you celebrate both! This is my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. I decided to shape them into hearts and top them with icing in the Rams and Bengals colors! These are extra festive and can even be used as a game for predicting who the Super Bowl winner will be.

Ingredients
- 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup + 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1 - 16 ounce container vanilla icing
- Food coloring
Directions
Make the Cookie Dough:
Start by browning the butter. (Check out this tutorial on How to Brown Butter.) Let cool to room temp.
- Preheat the oven to 375ºF and line a 9x13" sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Add the brown butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer and whip on high speed until fluffy. About 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl and whip on medium speed until fully incorporated, about 1 minute.
- Slowly incorporate the flour, baking soda, and salt into the batter and mix until just combined.
- Fold 1 cup of chocolate chips into the dough until evenly dispersed throughout.
- Press the dough into the pan in an even layer.
- Add the extra chocolate chips on top of the dough.
- Bake for 12 minutes and let cool completely.
Assembling the Heart Cookies:
Parchment paper from the sheet pan and place the large cookie onto a cutting board.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut into the cookie. Place the cookies on a plate.
- Divide your icing into equal bowls for however many colors you're using. Add 3-4 drops of food coloring into each, adding more if necessary. Stir well to combine.
- Spoon the icing into a piping bag and cut a small tip off the top.
- Pipe the icing onto the cookies to decorate however you prefer, whether it's hearts, zigzags, or another design.
