How big are Baked by Melissa treats?

Each cupcake is just a bite, measuring slightly larger than a quarter in diameter. Our handcrafted treats—including gluten-free, vegan, and macaron options—are intentionally small so you can try them all.

How many cupcakes should I order?

If this is the only dessert being served, people usually eat 4-5 cupcakes. For kids, we recommend 1-3.

The 25-Pack is ideal for gifts and small gatherings (1-2 people).

The 50-Pack is best for families and medium-sized parties (3-6 people).

The 100-Pack is recommended for hosting larger parties (6+ people).

Can I modify or cancel my order?

All orders are final, so make sure everything looks correct at checkout, and it should be smooth sailing!

Are Baked by Melissa products nut-free?

No, our products are not nut-free. Most of our flavors do not contain nuts in the recipe, but our cupcakes are made in a bakery where nut ingredients are used, so there is a possibility of cross-contamination.

We do offer party-safe packs filled with delicious, no-nut flavors. Keep in mind that all of the macarons are made with almond flour and our vegan cupcakes contain coconut.

What is the ingredients/nutritional information for Baked by Melissa cupcakes?

Our bite-size cupcakes range from 35 to 70 calories each. Yup, that’s right. You can find exact ingredients and nutritional information by clicking on the cupcake on our flavors page.

Will Baked by Melissa products arrive fresh?

Yes, we cushion our custom clamshell packaging with insulated padding and ice packs to ensure your treats arrive perfectly fresh, guaranteed. For more information on shipping, visit our Shipping FAQs.

What if I’m not happy with my order?

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

Can I choose my shipping arrival date?

Yes! At checkout, you can select a future arrival date. If you don’t see the arrival date you want, call our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220 so we can help.

Because we use FedEx and CDL Last Mile as third-party shipping partners, we can’t guarantee arrival dates and times, but we try really, really hard to make sure it gets to you on time. If you’re planning for special occasions, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days early (so for weekend events, we recommend arrival on Thursday) so you can be worry-free! Your cupcakes and macarons will stay fresh in transit for up to 4 days and in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

FedEx and CDL Last Mile do not require a signature for our packages, which means that your order will be left at the arrival destination as long as the delivery person feels comfortable doing so. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, a second attempt will be made as soon as FedEx or CDL Last Mile can accommodate it, usually on the following business day.

Is my arrival date guaranteed? What if my shipping order doesn’t arrive on the date I chose?

Because we use FedEx and CDL Last Mile as a third-party shipping method, we are not able to guarantee arrival dates and times, but we try really, really hard to make sure it gets to you on time. If you’re planning for special occasions, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days early (so for weekend events, we recommend arrival on Thursday) so you can be worry-free! Your cupcakes and macarons will stay fresh in transit for up to 4 days and in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

How far in advance do I need to place my shipping order?

Great question! It all depends on how quickly you need your order (yes, cupcake emergencies are real). Please note that for next-day shipping arrivals, orders must be finalized by 2 pm Eastern Time the day prior. Next-day shipping is available Monday - Friday. If you are an awesome party planner and gearing up for a special occasion, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days in advance. Sometimes high order volume (especially during the holidays) or weather conditions can make FedEx’s and CDL Last Mile's operational schedule a little unpredictable.

What is the shipping order minimum?

Our shipping order minimum is $37 (one 25-Pack of cupcakes!).

What products are available for nationwide shipping?

We can ship everything nationwide, with the exception of our Electric Tie-Dye Cake and a few store-exclusive assortments. (It’s a great excuse to visit NYC!)

Where does Baked by Melissa ship?

We ship nationwide to all states, including Hawaii and Alaska.

How long does it take to deliver Baked by Melissa?

We offer next-day shipping for Tuesday through Saturday deliveries, as long as the order is placed before 2 PM ET the day prior. If you're planning ahead for a special occasion, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days beforehand (so for weekend events, we recommend arrival on Thursday) so you can be worry-free!

How much is shipping?

Baked by Melissa offers products for nationwide shipping, Manhattan courier delivery, and free in-store pick up.

We offer flat-rate shipping for all orders placed online.


SHIPPING METHODS

Standard: Our least expensive shipping option. Ships out with either FedEx Ground, FedEx Home, FedEx 2-Day, or CDL Standard. The package is in transit for 1-2 days and will arrive by end of day (usually by 8PM) on arrival date selected.

Expedited: Ships with one of the following options: FedEx Standard Overnight or FedEx Priority Overnight. The package is in transit for one day and will arrive by 8PM on the arrival date selected.

Priority: Ships with FedEx Priority Overnight. The package is in transit for one day and will arrive by noon on the arrival date selected in most locations; by 4:30 PM or 5 PM in remote areas. To find the arrival time for your location, please visit FedEx.com.

Saturday: Ships with either FedEx Home or FedEx Priority Overnight for a Saturday arrival. The package is in transit for one day and will arrive by 8 PM on the arrival date selected.

Sunday: Ships with FedEx Home for a Sunday arrival. The package is in transit for 1-2 days and will arrive by end of day (usually by 8 PM) on the arrival date selected. Sunday arrivals are available for select zip codes only. You can enter your delivery zip code at checkout to see if Sunday arrival is available in your area.

Monday: Ships with one of the following options: FedEx Ground, FedEx Home, Standard Overnight, or Priority Overnight. The package is in transit for two days and will arrive between 12 PM and 8 PM on the selected arrival date.


Will Baked by Melissa products arrive fresh?

Yes! Our awesome packaging ensures that your products will arrive perfectly fresh, guaranteed.

How long will Baked by Melissa products stay fresh at home and while in transit?

Our custom packaging keeps your cupcakes and other treats fresh for two weeks in the freezer, and up to 4 days in transit.

How does Baked by Melissa ship?

We've created unique packaging to keep your cupcakes safe and delicious in transit. All of our bite-size treats are baked fresh, sealed, and packaged with care. We use recyclable foam liners and ice packs to ensure that our hand-crafted bite-size treats arrive at your door in perfect condition, guaranteed.

How can I track the progress of my order?

For shipping orders, we'll send you an email with a tracking number 1-2 days before the arrival date. For local delivery orders, we'll send you an email when the order has been delivered. For pickup orders, just head to your selected store at your pickup time and your treats will be waiting!

Do I need to be home to sign for my shipping order?

Nope! FedEx and CDL Last Mile do not require a signature for our packages, which means that your order will be left at the arrival destination as long as the delivery person feels comfortable doing so. Do you ship to university campuses/mailroom P.O. boxes?

Yes! We love to treat college students. While FedEx does not deliver to USPS P.O. Boxes, exceptions are made for student mailrooms. Just be sure to verify the accurate guidelines and address format with the university.

What about APO addresses?

We ship to APO addresses within the US. However, we recommend reaching out to the APO first to confirm that they will accept perishable items.

Does Baked by Melissa ship internationally?

No, we’re currently only shipping within the U.S., but we may cross borders someday. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know.

How can I place an order?

You can order online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team by calling (212) 842-0220. You can also walk into any of store and order on the spot.

Can I modify or cancel my order?

Do I need to pre-order to pick up in store?

Totally your call. Most of our assortments are available at all Baked by Melissa stores, so feel free to walk in! If you would like order ahead, pickup orders can be placed online or by calling our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220. If you want a unique celebration pack, it must be ordered in advance.

What type of payment does Baked by Melissa accept?

For online orders, we accept credit cards (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover), PayPal, and Apple Pay. For phone orders, we accept credit cards only (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover). For walk-in orders, we accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay for worry-free, contactless payment.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will be charged when you finalize your order. You may see an additional temporary pending authorization, but that will fall off your bank statement as soon as the order processes.

Can I place my order through email?

For security purposes, please don’t send sensitive information to us via email. All orders must be placed online or by calling our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220.


ABOUT OUR CUPCAKES

What cupcake flavors does Baked by Melissa offer?

We have at least 12 flavors at any one time, including classic flavors (like Red Velvet & Mint Chocolate Chip), gluten-free options, vegan cupcakes, seasonal collections, and our Mini of the Month. Check out our current flavor menu here.

Does Baked by Melissa make larger-sized cupcakes or cakes?

Yes! We have an electric tie-dye layer cake available for store pickup and local delivery. For nationwide shipping, we specialize exclusively in bite-size treats, so you can try all our flavors without getting full.

Are Baked by Melissa products nut-free?

No, our products are not nut-free. Most of our flavors do not contain nuts in the recipe, but please note that our cupcakes are baked in a kitchen where nut ingredients are used, so there is a possibility of cross-contamination.

How are your gluten-free cupcakes made?

Our gluten-free desserts are made in a dedicated gluten-free bakery. All of the ingredients we use are certified gluten-free or are manufactured in dedicated gluten-free facilities. Where are Baked by Melissa products baked?

All of our treats are made in our New Jersey bakery and delivered fresh to our stores daily.


KOSHER CERTIFICATION

Is Baked by Melissa Kosher-certified?

Yes! Our bakery and desserts are certified kosher by OK Kosher. OK Kosher verifies that every ingredient we use and all of our production processes are kosher-compliant. Here’s what else you should know:

All orders shipped directly from our bakery are kosher.

Pre-packaged assortments in stores are kosher, since they were sealed at our bakery with the OK-D symbol.

Our stores are not kosher, since they are open 7 days a week, so Pick Your Flavors options in stores aren’t kosher.

Our products are not certified Cholov Yisroel, kosher for Passover, or kosher parve (including the vegan assortment since they are baked in our dairy kosher-certified kitchen).

How can I place a kosher order?

If you’re ordering online, just go through the regular ordering process. If you prefer to shop in-store, our pre-packaged assortments are certified kosher and can be purchased at any location.

To get a kosher specialty pack (like new parents gifts, pick your own, or engagement packs) in-store, order for pickup online or call (212) 842-0220 at least 7 days in advance. Our bakery will deliver sealed, kosher-certified packs to the store of your choice.


CUPCAKE CARE & STORAGE

How should I store Baked by Melissa cupcakes?

Freeze em’! (Freezer, not fridge). Our bite-size treats will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks, just take them out 20-30 minutes before serving. Pro tip: The cupcakes are also pretty awesome straight out of the freezer.

No freezer? No problem! Keep them at room temperature for up to 48 hours for the best taste.

How are the cupcakes packaged?

Our cupcakes are packaged in our signature clamshells to keep every treat fresh. Each cupcake or macaron sits in its own little bubble within the pack so that they won’t smush in transit. These packs are designed for sharing, with a lid that can be easily removed to serve party desserts. Cute, right? They stack really nicely, too.

Can I travel with my order?

Absolutely! Our packs are great travelers. If you choose to bring an ice pack, we recommend wrapping the cupcake pack in plastic as there will be some condensation. For airplanes, we suggest storing our product in your carry-on.

Is there a minimum for placing an order in-store?

Nope! You can purchase any quantity on the spot.

What type of payment does Baked by Melissa accept for orders placed in-store?

We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay for worry-free, contactless payment.

Is it easy to park outside Baked by Melissa store locations?

We get it, it’s NYC—parking is tough. We don’t offer designated parking at any of our Manhattan store locations, but it's easiest to park near or pull up to our Upper West Side, Union Square, or Gramercy store locations.

Can I still choose my own flavors in-store?

Yes! We’re thrilled to bring back Pick Your Own at nine retail locations, including Columbus Circle, Fashion District, Financial District, Garden State Plaza, Grand Central, Roosevelt Field Mall, Soho, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and 86th Street.

If your favorite store doesn’t offer Pick Your Own again yet, you can still get any of our freshly sealed pre-packs on our website for delivery!

Can I speak directly with a Baked by Melissa store location?

All calls are directed to our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220. They can help you with any questions you have.

Can I bring my dog inside?

We love all dogs, but only service dogs are permitted in stores.


LOCAL PICKUP & DELIVERY

What is a Pick Up Order?

Pickup orders are orders that are placed in advance online or over the phone for pickup at select store locations.

How far in advance do I need to place my Pick Up Order?

At least 1 hour in advance of your pickup time.

Do I need to bring any type of confirmation with me?

You just need to give us the name for the order.

Is it okay if someone else picks up my order for me?

Yes—if it’s placed under your name, let the person picking it up know to give your name and make sure they know what you ordered.

Should I wait in line if I pre-ordered?

Nope! Since you’ve already ordered and paid, you can skip the line and go straight up to the front counter.

Is it okay if I am running late?

No worries! Your order will be patiently awaiting your arrival.

What is a free pickup order?

A free pickup order allows you to place your order in advance online or over the phone and collect your items at your chosen store.

Pickup orders can be placed in advance online or over the phone. All you need to do is come in, tell our sales associate that you’re there for pickup, and give them the name for the order and they’ll hand it over. It’s that easy!

Do I need to order in advance? No! We always have plenty of cupcakes and macarons in our stores, but if you want a specific assortment (like our wedding flavors) or a kosher-certified Pick Your Flavors assortment, please order those in advance.

There are select products that have a seven-day lead time, including macarons, 3-Pack Bundles of 12, wedding cupcakes, and baby cupcakes.

What is a local delivery order?

These orders are packed by our stores and arrive same-day via courier to Manhattan addresses between Battery Park and 110th Street. We also offer delivery through third-party apps, such as DoorDash to select Long Island and NJ addresses.

How far in advance do I need to place my delivery order?

Delivery orders can be placed online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220 and must be placed before the start of your desired delivery window.

Is there a local delivery fee?

Yes, it’s $10.95 per location.

When will my delivery order arrive?

When placing a local delivery order, you will be prompted to choose an arrival date and delivery window. We deliver 7 days a week, including national holidays. Your order is guaranteed to arrive within the selected two-hour delivery window.

What if I’m not home when the courier arrives?

We will try to leave your order with a third party if we can (like your doorman, reception desk, etc.), but if that doesn’t work, your order will be available for pick-up at the nearest Baked by Melissa store location.

If you'd like us to reattempt delivery, we offer one complimentary redelivery attempt. If it is unsuccessful twice, we can reattempt for an additional $10.95.

Can I request a more specific delivery time?

We guarantee that local delivery orders arrive during your chosen time slot, but unfortunately can’t offer more exact timing.

Can my doorman/receptionist sign for my delivery order?

Yes, as long as they accept perishable goods! Please keep in mind that some buildings will not hold food deliveries, and the recipient will need to be available to receive the order.

How can I track the progress of my delivery order?

Please include the recipient’s phone number when placing your order so we can send text updates once the courier is on their way. We'll also send you an email when the order has been delivered.


MULTI-ADDRESS CHECKOUT

Do you offer Multi-Address Checkout?

Yes, you can place several orders to multiple addresses at once here. If you need help, reach out to our Customer Happiness Team at (212) 842-0220.

What is Multi-Address Checkout?

Multi-Address Checkout allows you to place multiple orders going to different addresses in a single transaction. After adding the items to your cart, you can select choose whether you would like to ship directly to recipients or send as an e-gift. You'll then be able to add your recipients. Each address will create a separate order, however your payment method will only be charged once.

What if I need to ship to more than 15 addresses?

Will I get an order confirmation email for my multi-address order?

After placing your order through our multi-address checkout portal, you’ll receive one confirmation email that includes information on all of your orders.

Will I get delivery notifications for my multi-address order?

You will be able to track your shipments here. Once you sign in, your orders will appear in your dashboard, each with details about each one. 

What products are available for multi-address checkout?

You can purchase any 25-Pack or seasonal gift box.

What payment methods do you accept for multi-address checkout?

Multi-address checkout currently only supports credit cards (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover). We hope to offer Apple Pay and PayPal support in the future.

Can I select my arrival dates?

Yes! During the multi-address checkout process, you can select your arrival date for each order. You can also send an e-gift, which allows your recipient to schedule their delivery date.

How much does shipping cost for multiple orders?

You will need to pay shipping for each individual order within Zest. Standard shipping rates start at $15.95.

Can I use a discount code?

Unfortunately, our mult-address checkout doesn’t support discount codes. For special rates, reach out to our team.

What about weddings? Will you bake my wedding cake?

How far in advance do I have to order?

Group gifting must be finalized three business days in advance of arrival, except for during peak holiday times (November to December), when we require seven business days. If you have a shorter lead time, just ask! Our team will work with you to help make it happen.

When did Baked by Melissa open?
