Spooky Scary Sweets

Halloween is for children, but Adi and I have so much fun dressing up. Last year I was weird Barbie and he was Ken, the year before we were Roy and Keeley from Ted Lasso, and when our kids were little, we all went as characters from Frozen. Can you tell we love group costumes?!

Today’s recipes were designed with kids in mind, but I’ve never seen an adult turn down a melty Milky Way sandwiched between pretzels. I love nostalgic desserts that make you feel like a kid again—they inspire my favorite Baked by Melissa flavors. Halloween is the perfect time to use trick-or-treating candy to make these recipes, some of which I see you all make year after year. I’m also sharing the apple yogurt cake recipe you’ve been asking for. It’s the perfect fall cake to bake with kids!

  • We’re hosting our annual Halloween party next week, so I pre-ordered 250 cupcakes. The Halloween flavors are some of my faves! (Then again, it’s like choosing your favorite child.)

  • My kids really wanted to decorate for Halloween this year, so I got these fun bats that won’t take up too much space.

  • I shared my toothbrush on Instagram and over 100 people have ordered it (!). Adi gave it to me for Hanukkah and I LOVE it—it’s definitely pricey, but it feels like going to the dentist every day.

  • We just restocked our favorite body wash. I love that they sell bigger refill sizes.

Halloween Candy Brown Butter Cookies

My kids love making these Halloween cookies every year when we come home from trick-or-treating. It’s a tradition we all look forward to!

Apple Yogurt Cake

This cake was actually my daughter’s idea to use apples we picked on Rosh Hashanah. It turned out great! It’s the perfect blank canvas for fall spices, too.

Halloween Cookie Spiders

Part snack, part craft, 100% cute. This is a great activity for smaller kids who might not have the patience to bake (but still want to eat their project).

Candy Blondies

This is also a favorite for holiday baking, but if you’re craving a gooey blondie instead of a cookie, this is absolutely what you should make with your Halloween haul.

Pretzel Bites

I shared this recipe with paid subscribers (PDF below!) a few months ago and had to bring it back for Halloween. It’s the perfect combo of sweet and salty in every bite.
