How to Make Your Melting Snowman Cookies

Making the Sugar Cookies:

  1. Using a mixer, whip the butter on high for 3 minutes and add sugar until it is fluffy.
  2. Pour in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract and mix until it is combined.
  3. Add in flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and then sift into the mixer!
  4. Continue mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Flatten the dough into a square and let it refrigerate until it is chilled.
  6. Roll the dough out onto a floured surface until it is 1/4 inch thick. Using your favorite cookie cutters, cut out your circles.
  7. Bake at 350ºF for 11 minutes.

Assembling the Melting Snowman Cookies:

  1. Make your favorite royal icing recipe. Set aside 1/4 cup of the icing, and add in black food gel dye. Add to a piping bag or a ziplock and snip the corner.
  2. Once your cookies are cooled, ice your cookies in any shape you like, we made ours asymmetrical so it looked like melting snow.
  3. Place an orange sprinkle onto the marshmallow in the center, this will be its nose! Using the black royal icing, add in eyes and a nose. Make them look happy, sad, shocked, as long as they have a face.
  4. Place your snowman head on the royal icing and pipe out some arms for them with the remaining black icing.
  5. Using mini M&M's create buttons on the “melted” part, these can be falling off the cookie, placed in a pattern, go crazy!
