To celebrate Baked by Melissa's new gluten-free flavors, go behind the scenes at our gluten-free bakery!
I get so sentimental when I go into our gluten-free bakery. It’s located in a separate facility from our main bakery, in the same spot as our first bakery once we outgrew the basement of Café Bari. My husband and I spent so much time together there developing flavors in the early days of Baked by Melissa, and today it holds so many delicious flavors—all of which are gluten-free.
I believe in cupcakes (and dessert) for everyone. When moms started reaching out to me saying their kids couldn’t eat our cupcakes because they weren't gluten-free, I knew we had to fix that. We spent a lot of time coming up with the perfect gluten-free cupcake recipe, as well as fudgy, flavor-packed macarons that are naturally gluten-free. Because it’s a totally different space, there’s no cross-contamination at all, meaning it’s safe for people with celiac, too.
Just like the original Baked by Melissa cupcakes, our gluten-free cupcakes are made with the most delicious ingredients, and I’m so excited to launch all-new gluten-free flavors, including marshmallow, cookie dough, cookies & cream, and chocolate caramel. YUM.
Every single treat we make is handcrafted, meaning a real person is mixing the batter, stuffing and icing each individual cupcake, and topping them at the end. The same goes for our macarons. They’re all filled, topped, and stacked by members of the Baked by Melissa team, who can sandwich the cookies together faster than I can blink. (Seriously, they can stack a tray of 200 macarons in under 10 minutes.)
