halloween cupcakes

From Halloween cupcakes to easy homemade Halloween treats, get in the spooky spirit with these Halloween traditions that bring me and my family joy year after year.

Eat candy all day long. (Trust me!)

On Halloween, I let my kids eat candy all day long. I mean, you’re only a kid once! But this trick works—Halloween candy lasts forever in my house, and I think it’s because they got their fill and have no desire to see a mini Reeses ever again after the day.

I love making Halloween desserts with their leftover candy. Eating a Twix inside a pie or cookie just feels more fun than eating it right out of the wrapper, and you’ll always get something different year after year.

Plan a family costume.

What’s better than a clever couples costume? A clever family costume. Adi and I dress up for Halloween every year, which makes the festivities so much fun for everyone as we trick-or-treat around the neighborhood. A few years ago, Adi and I went as George Harrison and Pattie Boyd. Spitting image if you ask me!

Celebrate with Halloween cupcakes

How can you plan a graveyard smash without a monster mash? Or vice versa? Planning your Halloween party desserts has never been easier with Baked by Melissa’s spooky-sweet treats. Whether you signed up to bring something sweet to a Halloween party or want a snack while you watch the parade, our Halloween-themed cupcakes set the mood without getting too scary. Remember, it’s just a bunch of hocus pocus!

Create a stained glass jack-o-lantern

“Stained glass” art is one of my favorite things to do with my kids. We could sit and cut up little squares of tissue paper for hours. Glue your squares onto a piece of paper and cut into a pumpkin shape for an easy, kid-friendly Halloween activity that doesn’t require sticking your hand into a pumpkin.

Visit your kids at school

One of my favorite things to do is visit my kids at school on holidays to read a “scary” story to them. (They’re little, it’s not that scary!) Of course, I love to spend extra time with my kids, but seeing all of their classmates dressed up in costumes from cute to clever to creepy just brings me so much joy.

I always bring a pack of Halloween cupcakes with me when I go to school, and let my kids pass them out to their friends. These easy Halloween treats will make you the hit of the classroom.
