cookie swap recipes

Spend quality time with friends and family over delicious homemade cookies.

One of my favorite winter activities with my kids is baking cookies. It's easy to get them involved and it doesn't require as much patience as say, a full layer cake. Once the cookies are baked and cooled, we cozy up on the couch with warm, freshly baked cookies and enjoy the fruits of our labor. I can't think of a better winter day!

The holiday season is also when I like to invite friends and family over for a cookie swap, where everyone brings their favorite cookies and recipes to trade with the group. This isn't limited to cookies, though—it can be gooey Rice Krispies treats, mouthwatering blondies, decorated cookies, or simple chocolate chip cookies (they're a classic for a reason). Just remember to stock up on cute pastry boxes beforehand so everyone can take their bounty home!

Here are a few of my favorite treats to share with friends—but remember, if you run out of time, bite-size cupcakes are great for sharing. I can't wait to see what you make!
