easy homemade edible gifts

Whether you’re planning a year in advance or are a last-minute gifter, bookmark these ideas for an incredible homemade gift anyone would love.

Some of the best gifts I’ve ever given were homemade and better yet, edible! (After all, Baked by Melissa was born out of my love of gifting cupcakes to loved ones.) Many of these recipes are very kid-friendly, as well, so get those little hands in the kitchen ready to work. All of these recipes will make your recipient happy and think of you anytime they enjoy their gift—whether it lasts a year or a few minutes.

Easy homemade gifts for everyone

Homemade Vanilla Extract

Split the vanilla beans down the center lengthwise and add to a jar (I do 14 beans for every 2 cups vodka). Cover with vodka and close the jar. Store the jar in a cool, dark place and shake once a week. The vanilla extract will be ready to gift in 6 months!

Homemade Garlic & Onion Powder

This is one of my favorite gifts to give and receive, and it tastes so much better than store-bought. You can use garlic, onion, shallot, or a combination of them. Use a mandolin to thinly slice the allium, then place on an even layer on a baking sheet. With the oven on low (around 220°F), dehydrate the allium until completely dry, 12-24 hours. Add the dehydrated allium to a high-speed blender and pulse until it becomes a powder.

Homemade Cookies

Get kids involved in the gifting process with my favorite cookies for gifting and eating.

Homemade Pickles

They’re easy, crunchy, and only take a few days to reach their best flavor.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Treats

Step aside, Rice Krispies, there’s a new treat in town.

S'mores Bark

This bark is SO easy to make and tastes just like a s’more. All you need is a campfire.

Cookie Butter Truffles

It doesn’t get better (or easier) than three ingredients. Especially when one is Biscoff!

Pretzel Millionaire Bars

Delicious bites of date caramel, chocolate, and crunchy pretzels.

Good Stuff Granola

The perfect crunchy topping is easily giftable in jars and bags.
